Is Obama A Champion For Gay Americans?

President Obama, who has come under harsh criticism from gay rights advocates for not yet acting on many campaign promises on gay issues, Monday afternoon said that his administration has made some progress on behalf of gay Americans and plans to do more.

“I know that many in this room don’t believe that progress has come fast enough, and I understand that,” Mr. Obama said at a reception for LGBT Pride Month at the White House. “It’s not for me to tell you to be patient anymore than it was for others to counsel patience to African-Americans who were petitioning for equal rights a half-century ago.”

When we go into the military and especially into combat there is a brotherhood or sisterhood or whatever you want to call it as it is simply a bond for life because of the fact that the person next to you is there for the same reason. In VN I shot and killed many brave North Vietnamese and VietCong that had more guts and probably more class than the crybabies on this blog saying it is immoral and not right for the military to rescind this archaic law. The one that stated that gays are in the same level as child molesters and incesters are entitled to their opinion but it is MY opinion that they are in the same group as cowards and certainly much much less of a human than the brave soldiers that we as American soldiers have had to fight and kill over the years. Our true enemy as a nation is right here at home!

If the comunity GLBT keeps giving the Dems a free pass and free vote. You will not see much change. They do whats need for votes. There are Republican gays, lesbians etc. dont put them down

It’s true Ohbama has broken many promises alreagy and he’ll continue. He say be pient … like how they did a half centry ago for arican americans well to me that sound a little bit predjudice to me . I think since he knows about the problems they faced the he should take more of astance and undstand where we arecoming from and take a PRO ACTIVE all the way approach To me he sounds like a racsist in sheep’s clothing. Also I would like to ask one question …why do we have to say native, african, mexican, etc american? We should classify ourselfs as just AMERICANS. Here again this is racsium don’t you think? jmo.

Hmmmm….sounds like some serious SOUR GRAPES going on below me! Jeesh….the man has been in office for a whole SIX MONTHS and you want it all WHEN???

    ROFLMAO

Must be republicans….get over it!!! Palin…(ummmm, of course I meant McCain) woulda done NOTHING FOR US but bury us deeper.

You want change….get active! Don’t waste your days whining at a gay website…..MAKE SOMETHING HAPPEN!!! Not happy with your lot in life? DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!

I didn’t vote for him either, (I’m a card- carrying Libertarian), but I’ve seen more change in six months than I’ve seen in 25 years. I believe he WILL help us. Already I see alot of this country finally coming around, it’s been a long, hard road and we’re just not there yet.

I’m a female Veteran, who still cries at the thought of good men and women getting kicked out because of who they are. That system ruined too many lives. I’m STILL fighting for those rights.

We just needed to get that NINCOMPOOP/NAZI/REPUBLICAN JERK out of our White House! (“They call him ‘W’ so he can spell it!!!”)

Be patient…..one day, we too will be free.

Got nothing against Republicans, either…we all make mistakes. Alot of them turned around, too. “King George’s”
    reign is OVER!!!

It IS great to be an American, and it’s only gonna get better for tomorrow’s GLBT community.

We’ve come a LONG WAY, baby!

    “Don’t worry…..Be happy!!”

Re: Obama, DOMA, DADT, national health, “war” funding, bail-outs for the looters on Wall St, Israel-Palestine, ect..

Obama seems to be looking more and more like Bush in black face these days…
    but he knows better….
