From the deftly finger-picked guitars of ‘Does Anyone Love Me Now?’ to the Bon-Iver-meets-Joanna-Newsome swoon of ‘Rebecca.’ “Blue Roses” is an album that transports the listener in to a world far beyond the realms of every day life. Then there’s ‘I Wish I…’ the centre-piece of the album, and a demonstration as to the ambitions and haunting drama that lies beneath much of Blue Roses’ music, the song is an enchanting six and a half minutes of swirling strings and gorgeous piano lines. The album was recorded partly in bedrooms in Bradford as well as piano shops, local colleges and churches in Yorkshire and was entirely self-produced and arranged by Blue Roses.
