Anti-Marriage Equality Group Wonders Why Should The Elderly, Childless and Infertile Get Married

“One might ask, why are you getting a marriage license anyway?”

That is the question that was asked by an Iowa Family Policy Center spokesman at a 16 September marriage equality debate with regards to not only the marriage of gays and lesbians, but of the elderly, the childless, and the infertile. In other words, the IFPC, a group associated with the National Organization For Marriage and Focus on the Family, does not want anyone who cannot have children to get married…

    I’ve been in a loving relationship for 29 years. Let’s face it: you don’t need a piece of paper to reflect your love, caring, or commitment. A ring is not essential either. What we do need is a marriage license so that we can have the considerable legal, taxation, and financial rights of a married couple.
