Wisconsin State Supreme Court won’t take case on domestic partnershipsNov 5th, 2009 | 3 responsesPosted by OIA Staff in NewsThe state Supreme Court refused to take a case asking the court to strike down the state’s new domestic partnership law for same-sex couples. The law took effect in August, allowing gay couples to register with counties so they could get about 40 of the 150 rights afforded married couples, such as hospital visitation rights. Before the law took effect, Julaine Appling and others from Wisconsin Family Action asked the high court to strike down the law, saying it violated the state’s constitutional ban on gay marriage and substantially similar arrangements. Julaine Appling has no foundation for her petition to the court and it’s about time the courts took a stand in refusing to hear these frivolous lawsuits. Note very carefully, the state law specifically bans gay marriage, but nowhere does it mention domestic partnerships, a civil ceremony. Sounds to me like Julaine is Aesop’s dog in the manger. Well, eventually, the dog will be tied up, outside the barn, to sleep in the rain. She doesn’t seem to get that if you try to abridge someone elses rights, down the road, someone else will use the same system to abridge hers. It’s always the thief who screams loudest about being robbed.
Julaine Appling needs to a) Get a life, and b) get a new name.
allow me to suggest she change her name to suit her brand of Christianity: Appalling.
