Buffalo Denied This Lesbian a Marriage License. A Moment Later She Grabbed a Stranger and Married Him

YouTube Preview Image

Gay activist Kitty Lambert stopped by Buffalo’s City Hall this week to secure a marriage license for she and partner Cheryl. But as the staffer explained, she could not apply for one, because two women cannot marry in the State of New York. So (in a planned stunt, of course) Kitty grabbed a male stranger, Ed, and moments later was on her way to getting married.

    Ridiculous reaction!
BTW, a note to OIA reporter, “for she and partner Cheryl” is incorrect. It should read, “for her and partner, Cheryl”.

I say good for her! A wonderfully clear example of the hypocrisy of those who oppose full marriage equality for all Americans!

Stunts like these are just too drastic. If anything I think she should have just left the building after her speech.

This action DOES show how ludicrous it is for any state to make a law forbidding same sex marriage. It shows that ‘marriage sanctity’ can be flushed down the toilet if someone can just marry a stranger off the street. Marriage after all, is a spiritual matter, not a legal issue. Therefore it is an area that must maintain ‘church and state’ separation. Not only that, but it denies one or the other person to be discriminated against because of their sex… and we already have laws on the books prohibiting that.

Cute stunt to make a point, but wait till she has to go thru all the divorce and other legal proceeding. Showing that you could just marry anyone, like a stranger, has already been demonstrate by Brittany Spears and her several hours marriage in Las Vegas. I’m not sure that this was the best way to bring about marriage equality.
