Supreme Court Refuses To Hear Challenge To DC Marriage Equality Law

Chief Justice John Roberts signaled what may be a trend within the United States Supreme Court of not hearing cases revolving around marriage equality. In refusing to hear a case involving Washington DC’s marriage law, Roberts wrote for the majority “It has been the practice of the court to defer to the decisions of the courts of the District of Columbia on matters of exclusively local concern.”
